Rural Area of Opportunity

North Walton County — the area north of Choctawhatchee Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway — together with the City of Freeport, is part of Florida’s Northwest Rural Area of Opportunity, re-designated by the Governor’s 2025 Executive Order. It’s one of the county’s strongest tools for lowering project cost and risk.
